About Our Tutors

All Maths Doctor tutors are recruited centrally through head office and are assessed for both their suitability to work with children as well as their qualifications and experience of teaching.

Before a tutor can begin working for Maths Doctor they undergo a detailed training programme that involves one-to-one mentoring with an experienced teaching professional. The tutor is then required to observe a number of lessons and will begin teaching a small section of each lesson under full supervision.

Eventually the tutor will work towards delivering full lessons which are observed and then assessed by their teaching mentor. Once the new tutor has demonstrated the necessary skills and knowledge required to become a Maths Doctor tutor, their profile will be added to the member’s area. It is then the responsibility of the head tutors to allocate suitable students to that tutor. The head tutors will also monitor the performance of every lesson by using the feedback reports that are submitted by students and tutors after each lesson. These feedback reports are automatically emailed to the parents after each lesson.

All tutors at Maths Doctor undergo a continuous process of peer review and evaluation to ensure continuing professional development. We strongly believe that teaching is not a skill one suddenly obtains; it is a continuous process of development.
